The Little Way Lectionary offers commentary on on each Sunday’s readings from the Revised Common Lectionary (and, where they diverge, the ACNA lectionary), including the Old Testament (or Psalms), Epistles, and Gospels. We do not aim to replace the many excellent commentaries which priests and pastors no doubt regularly consult. Rather, the Little Way Lectionary Commentary offers a point of entry into the main interpretive debates – ancient and modern – over each passage, while also reflecting a distinctive theological and exegetical perspective. We also draw, where relevant, on work in the social and natural sciences that might illuminate the readings.

The Little Way Lectionary Commentary is written by Dr. Brendan Case, a Christian theologian (Th.D., Duke Divinity School) who serves as Associate Director for Research of the Human Flourishing Program at Harvard University. He is married to Little Way Chapel founder, Alissa Case; they have four children, and are members of Church of the Cross in Boston.

Brendan has many and varied research interests – he has written (or co-written) academic books and articles on Christology, accountability as a theological virtue, angels, St. Paul, challenges in the cross-cultural study of well-being, and how marriage promotes flourishing, among other topics. His work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Christianity Today, NBC News, and in journals such as Modern Theology, Studies in Christian Ethics, Franciscan Studies, and Pro Ecclesia. What unites these pursuits, however, is Brendan’s passion for understanding all of reality in light of God’s self-revelation in Christ, which continually drives him back to the Scriptures and their long reception in the life of the Church, seeking to “read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them.”
